RANK & TEST REQUIREMENTS
Like many other Japanese martial arts, Aikido adopts the standard Kyu-Dan system. Wakatake Dojo follows the grading system and syllabus of Aikikai (PLUS items from USAF/Yamada Shihan's system). Unlike many/other competitive martial arts, testing for rank in Aikido is not mandatory. But taking an exam is an effective way to gauge your knowledge, skills and technical proficiency in Aikido, formalizing your training experience and progress.
There is a minimum number of practice days that are prerequisite for testing for every rank. See list below
Testing is at the discretion of the head instructor(s) --- Sensei Noel and/or Sensei Kenneth. If you feel you're qualified and ready to take the test, consult the instructor before making a decision.

A black belt is a white belt who never gave up.
My blackbelt test started the day I entered the dojo.
Have the proficiency of a blackbelt but ALWAYS have the heart and humility of a whitebelt.
